So, if your name is Scott, apparently Theo will be seeking you out to give you a contract to join Scott Baker, Scott Feldman, and now Scott Hairston. You remember his brother, right? Jerry Hairston, Jr. Yeah, I barely do, too. I try to block those years out of my head as much as possible.
He's a pretty good sign, and supposedly will be used as a platoon in right field with Nate Shierholz with DeJesus being the everyday centerfielder, and Sori rocking it out in left field again.
Now, what this does, other than make it a Scottish clubhouse, it is starting to clog up the outfield. I'm sure this is Brett Jackson's bus ticket back to Iowa. I'm also thinking that the love everyone showed for Tony Campana this past weekend at the Convention was his going away party.
There still needs to be two spots cleared to make room for not only Hairston, but also Carlos Villenueva. AND after checking out the
Cubs depth chart, it is a glaring hole that the Cubs don't have a backup first baseman, so either someone had better shine like a diamond from Iowa this spring, or there will be a few more transactions before we see the final Opening Day roster! I guess we'd better be scanning the names of baseball players named "Scott" that can play first base!
